Antoni Tàpies created this lithograph to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the Assemblea de Catalunya, a key platform that united Catalan political and social opposition against Franco’s dictatorship during the 1970s. The work features the number 7, a motif also present in his large-scale painting 7 de novembre, now housed in the Parliament of Catalonia.

Tàpies actively supported the Assemblea de Catalunya and participated in numerous actions advocating for democracy and civil rights, including protests against the death penalty, demonstrations demanding amnesty for political prisoners, and the massive Marxa de la Llibertat (Freedom March). This lithograph reflects his deep commitment to these struggles, embodying both resistance and solidarity.
